Impact Of US-Cuba Pact On MLB-ESPN‎ -

Nine days after the disappointment of falling one vote short of election to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Golden Era Committee balloting, Tony Oliva had a much happier day Wednesday.
Oliva, a native of Cuba and a three-time batting champion for the Minnesota Twins, told "Outside the Lines" that President Barack Obama's newly announced steps toward normalizing relations between the U.S. and communist Cuba are "the best thing that can happen for the United States and Cuba and will help both countries."
The 76-year-old Oliva has three sisters and two brothers who live in Cuba. He visits the country regularly, most recently last month.
"It's hard to explain all the good things that can come from this for me and my family," Oliva said. "It's what I've been waiting for for 50 years, and, oh man, this could be great."
In Washington on Wednesday, Obama said the U.S. is re-establishing long-broken diplomatic relations with Cuba that would mark an end to America's "outdated approach" to the island nation in a historic shift aimed at ending a half-century of mutual hostility.
Oliva said although the news came as a surprise, he had recently heard rumors in both countries that advancements toward establishing relations soon could be on the horizon.

‘Peter Pan Live!’ Ratings Down 47% From ‘Sound Of Music’ Last Year, ‘The Taste’ Debuts Down – Update

2nd UPDATE, 1:50 PM: The stage is all packed away, the final numbers are in andNBC’s Peter Pan Live! saw a small adjustment up while CBS’s NFL inflated primetime saw significant movement downward. The Neil Meron and Craig Zadan produced 3-hour live musical went up a tenth to 2.4/7 among adults 18-49. That’s 47% less than The Sound Of Music Live! drew in final nationals on December 5 last year. As for CBS’ schedule, Two and a Half Men (1.9/6), freshman The McCarthys(1.4/6) and Elementary (1.2/6) all went down sixth tenths. Sitcom Mom (2.0/6) fell 20% from its fast nationals result and 23% from its last original on November 20. The CW’s Reign (0.4/1) went down a tenth from its result of this morning to be even with its last new show two weeks ago.
UPDATE: 9:01 AM: As Peter Pan Live! took a dive from last year’s The Sound Of Music Live! in metered market results, it took even a bit more of a fall in fast nationals. With a 2.3/7 rating among adults 18-49, the Neil Meron and Craig Zadan produced 3-hour spectacle was down 50% from the Carrie Underwood fronted Von Trapp family tale of December 5, 2013, also produced by Meron and Zadan. Seeing drops of 33% and 39% in the demo and overall viewership from its first 30 minutes to its last half hour, the 8 – 11 PM Peter Pan Live! pulled in a total audience of 9.13 million. That’s just under half of 18.6 million who watched Sound Of Music Live! last year. Not surprisingly, Peter Pan also declined from last week’s NFL game on Thanksgiving Day. Fast nationals to fast nationals, the live musical was down 60% from the Seahawks vs 49ers game.
Of course, even with those declines, NBC had a rare very good Thursday. Peter Pan Live! gave the network its second most watched non-sports one since the ER finale of April 2 2009 and its second best demo result on the day since the multi-premiere night of September 22, 2001, in fact. Which means the Peacock won the night among the key demo. Right now, CBS won the night among total viewers with 9.53 million watching – though that could change.

Is This Fruit Extract 10,000 Times Better Than Chemotherapy?

Adriamycin is the trade name for the chemoagent doxorubucin and is known by the nickname “red devil,” due to both its deep red color and terrible side effects, which include life-threatening, even fatal damage to the cardiovascular system. This abject lack of “selective CYTOTOXICITY” — the ability to kill only the cancer cells and not healthy ones  – is what makes Adriamycin so dangerous. And yet, it has been a first line treatment for a wide range of cancers for almost half a century.
Since the 1996 study, little research on graviola was performed. There was a cell study in 1999 which showed it had anti- prostate cancer and breast cancer activity; another 2002 cell study showed that graviola exhibited anti-hepatoma (LIVER CANCER) activity, but nothing as promising as the original 1996 study ever followed.
Then, in 2011, the journal NUTRITION AND CANCER revealed highly promising research on Graviola and breast cancer. Researchers found that graviola fruit extract (GFE) suppressed so-called oncogene (or cancer-causing gene) expression in the cell and animal models of breast cancer. The oncogene known as epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is commonly over-expressed in breast cancer, and therefore an ideal target for therapy.

Vick first QB to 6,000 yards rushing

Updated: November 9, 2014, 9:28 PM ET
By Jane McManus | ESPNNewYork.com
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The JetsMichael Vick became the first quarterback to rush for 6,000 yards in a career in Sunday's 20-13 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Vick finished with 39 rushing yards for the Jets, who stunned the Steelers to snap an eight-game losing streak.
Vick already held the record for career rushing yards by a quarterback coming into the season, and had 5,967 yards rushing coming into the game. To put that into context, Vick's former Eagles teammate running back LeSean McCoy has 6,095 yards as of last week.
"Really, it makes me feel old, because that's years of hard work," Vick said. "Probably something that -- well, I know it's something that hasn't been done in the league up until this point. It's a major milestone."
Randall Cunningham is the second quarterback on the list with 4,928 career yards, and Steve Young had 4,239.
At 34 and in his 12th NFL season, Vick was drafted by the Falcons and played there for six seasons, and then played five seasons for the Eagles. After losing the starting job in Philadelphia last season to quarterback Nick Foles, Vick was brought in by the Jets on a one-year, $4 million deal.
The veteran could be considered to have revolutionized the quarterback position, and a new generation of running quarterbacks.
"There were times where I could have been a difference maker," Vick said. "Things could have been a lot better. But reaching those type of milestones and continuing to play the game at a high level at my age makes me appreciate the game of football."

Happy Veterans Day

Veteran's Day is special. On this day we honor our nation's heroes, who died fighting for our country in foreign shores. Without our brave soldiers, we would not have known peace or tranquility. Let us honor the martyrs who laid down their life to protect their country from external threats.165956009

Red Bull Is Just Soda

 ADVERTISING

Yesterday, nearly every site on the web reported on a Red Bull settlement that essentially gave away free money. And that's exactly the problem.

Yesterday, the world received some truly wonderful news: A group of Red Bull customers took the company’s “It Gives You Wings” slogan a little too literally, sued the drink maker for false advertisingand forced Red Bull to give us all money. And the best part? Anyone who bought a Red Bull since 2002 was eligible to request a piece of the settlement—either $10 cash or $15 dollars in Red Bull products—with no proof of purchase required. Isn’t America great?
Well, apparently it’s not as great as I thought because the Internet ruined everything.
Here’s why: In the settlement, Red Bull didn’t actually promise to give everyone who applied $10 to $15. Instead, they capped the handouts at $13 million. As Buzzfeedreported, if too many people make claims, the settlement will be diluted so it can be split evenly. Some quick back of the envelope math, and we can figure out that if everyone requested the cash award, each claimant’s return would start shrinking after 1.3 million people applied.
And how many claims did Red Bull actually receive? We don’t know for sure, yet, but Buzzfeed’s post alone has already been viewed more than 4.6 million times, and the settlement website was slammed with so much traffic yesterday that it crashed. Even if we assume that only people who read that specific article asked for a piece of the pie, and ignore the legions of other outlets who reported the news, we’re still down to a new settlement value of slightly under $3 a person — or about the retail price of a 12-ounce can of the stuff.
So thanks a lot, everybody. As someone who may have personally contributed to at least half of Red Bull’s sales over the past 12 years, I felt I was due for a little kickback. Now I’m going to have to use my own money to buy more energy drinks…. which, honestly, is probably what I was going to do anyway.

Lecrae Brings Reformed Rap to Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show

(UPDATED) Performance with The Roots was the first by a Christian rapper on late-night TV.
For the night, Lecrae joined Fallon’s house band, The Roots, for musical interludes between segments. He rapped portions of songs from his new album, including “Nuthin,” “Fear,” “All I Need is You,” “Say I Won’t,” and “Welcome to America.”
The Tonight Show posted a clip of Lecrae explaining his inspiration for the lead single on Anomaly. "I made a battle cry for substance in music," he said.

James Poyser and Frank Knuckles, both members of the band, posted pictures with Lecrae, as fans and friends tweeted along. #LecraeOnFallon trended nationwide.
Following the show, Lecrae posted on Facebook, "It's a lot to take in. I haven't had time to download it all. I am so grateful for the support. I know I represent something much bigger than me. Thank you! I thank God for a voice into culture. I pray I use it wisely."
“I'm really excited for Lecrae,” tweeted fellow Christian rapper Sho Baraka. “I pray for wisdom for that brother. This can't be easy navigating new waters.‪#116Circa03.”
To borrow some popular lingo, Christian rapper Lecrae is blowing up.
His latest album, Anomaly, topped iTunes on the day it was released and took the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Top 200—a first for a Gospel act.
On Thursday, Lecrae will become the first from the resurgent ranks of Reformed rappers to appear on a late-night network show when he sits in with The Roots, the house band for The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. He is expected to perform his single, “All I Need is You.”
Lecrae's Tonight Show gig follows recent features on MTV.com, the Billboard site, and the front page of the Washington Times. CT interviewed Lecrae in 2011 on how he went from addiction to self to Jesus becoming his "drug of choice."
As Christian hip-hop grows in popularity and theological depth (and also develops a critical edge), Lecrae is celebrated an artist who can entertain both Christian and mainstream audiences; last year, he toured with a hip-hop festival featuring secular artists such as Wu-Tang Clan, Kendrick Lamar, and Common.
Previous Christian acts who have made late-night appearances (under Fallon’s predecessor, Jay Leno) include Third Day, Switchfoot, and For King & Country.
A 2013 CT cover story examined the leaders of Christian hip-hop and how the movement could call the American church back to the gospel—and hip-hop back to its roots. CT also spotlighted the centrality of Reformed theology to Christian hip-hop.
One of Lecrae's new songs, "Non-Fiction" name-drops pastor Tim Keller as well as CT executive editor Andy Crouch and his book Culture Making.
CT coverage of Christian hip-hop includes what Shai Linne's takedown of Joyce Meyers suggests about Reformed rap, a defense of using the n-word in certain songs, a Katy Perry ripoff lawsuit, and the lack of female artists.
Earlier this summer, the magazine also celebrated Jimmy Fallon’s new comedic tone on The Tonight Show.

News for adrian peterson son

Pictures Of Adrian Peterson's Son's Beating Wounds Emerge

The correct way to discipline your child is always a murky and controversial topic. Many people that physically beating a child in regard to punishment is an ill serving and unnecessary way to instill a lesson, and in some cases worthy of jail time. Others who have grown up accustom to physical harm as a means of punishment see no wrong, as it was used on them as a child.
Last week arguably the leagues best player other than a quarterback, Vikings RB Adrian Peterson turned himself in after his four-year-old son indirectly went to the police after being beaten by a “switch” or thin tree branch repeatedly over the lower extremities. This comes after a long line of domestic violence occurrences with many star players around the league and of course in the wake of the tapes of Ray Rice beating his then fiancĂ© to unconsciousness in an Atlantic City elevator earlier this year.
Though deactivated by the Vikings, according to sources Peterson will serve no jail time and could be back with the team as early as this week.

News for iPhone 6

Apple fans, the time has finally come. We have seen a number of exciting new devices announced in the past few weeks — check out our hands-on previews of the Galaxy Note 4 and Motorola’s new Moto X for two great examples. But nothing, and we mean nothing, has been as hotly anticipated as Apple’s huge iPhone 6, iPhone phablet and iWatch announcements.
Now, after months of leaks and rumors, it’s finally time for Apple’s next-generation iPhone lineup and its first ever wearable device to become a reality.
Tuesday’s Apple event is going to be the company’s biggest and most important press conference in years, so there was absolutely no way that Apple was going to make fans follow along with live blogs. Instead, the company is providing live streaming video of the entire show so the world can follow along as Apple unveils the product lineup that is expected to lead to its most profitable quarter ever.
What should we expect to see during the event? If the dozens upon dozens of leaks and rumors leading up to today are any indication, we’ll see two completely redesigned iPhone handsets, a wearable device that has been referred to as the “iWatch,” a brand new mobile payment system and plenty more.
For a rundown of everything you can expect to see during Tuesday’s event, be sure to check out our iPhone 6 rumor roundup.
Apple’s new iPhones will be the stars of the show, of course, and the company is expected to unveil a flagship phone with a 4.7-inch display as well as a new iPhone phablet with a 5.5-inch screen. In fact, videos of a working iPhone 6 recently leaked for the first time ever. But as great as leaked videos are, there’s nothing like seeing the official unveiling of these exciting new devices.
So, how exactly can you watch all the action live?
On a Mac or iOS device
Apple is providing users a number of ways to watch the action live. On a Mac computer or an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, visiting this link on Apple’s website will allow you to stream live video of the event.
Apple notes that its streaming video will only work in “Safari 5.1.10 or later on OS X v10.6.8 or later; Safari on iOS 6.0 or later.”
On Windows and Android
Sadly, Apple’s live stream doesn’t officially support any Windows or Android devices. Crazy, we know. There’s no guarantee it’ll work reliably or at all, but you can try a user
